We talk about “community" a lot at River Valley. It’s one of the big connection points that helps us experience an abundant life in Jesus.

I know that one of the weapons the enemy uses against us is to pull us into isolation. The devil would love nothing more than to convince us that we are the only ones experiencing this hardship, that we are the only ones facing this trial, that we are stupid, that nobody cares about us, that we are weird, that we are too far gone, that we are completely broken beyond repair, etc. The enemy wants us to be isolated and alone (physically, emotionally, and spiritually).

I also know that one of the great ways that God gave us to combat the enemy is Groups. It’s not the only way to fight but is a BIG way to fight. We have Groups at River Valley to help us each experience healthy, Godly community. There are many reasons for this. We all need Godly influence in our lives. We need people to encourage us and “spur us on” toward Jesus. When we surround ourselves with men, women, and families who are also pursuing Jesus, we will find it strengthening our lives.

Another reason we believe in Groups is because we are never supposed to go through life alone. In Groups, we find people who will pray with us, pray for us, care for us when we are in a valley, point us to the truth of scripture, combat the lies of the enemy, and so much more. There is supernatural power in Godly community. We need to worship together. We need to study scripture together. We need to pray for each other. We need to encourage and love each other. We will see the power of God show up when we do this.
