Rest comes as we know the Father’s heart for His children (Matthew 11:28-30). Knowing the Father’s heart means we trust our Heavenly Father “in chair #1” as a confident son or daughter. Some are in chair #3, the one reserved for those outside the family who have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus. But many who have chosen to follow Jesus are sitting in chair #2, having been adopted as a son or daughter but still living and seeing themselves as an orphan. To live the abundant life that Jesus offers, we have to find our identity as a child who freely and joyfully sits in our Father’s chair.
